Embracing Every Child’s Potential
At Heart to Heart, we believe that every child deserves love, dignity, and an equal opportunity to thrive, regardless of their abilities. Our Special Needs Program focuses on children with Down syndrome living in the slums of Kibera and Kawangware, ensuring they receive the support they need to live fulfilling lives.
We currently support 13 children, offering early intervention, inclusive education, psychosocial support, medical care, and family empowerment. With the generous backing of NSP-AID and Elise’s family, our program has placed children in special schools, linked them with therapists, and provided emotional and material support to overwhelmed caregivers, some of whom had nearly lost hope.
From home visits and health monitoring, we’re building a community of care where stigma is replaced with understanding. Our dream is to grow this program to serve more children and families, offering quarterly forums, therapy training for our staff, and continued love for those often forgotten.
We’ve seen transformation not only in the lives of the children, but in the hearts of their families. Because when one child is supported, an entire home is uplifted.
