The Self-Empowerment Program is designed to uplift individuals and groups within the slums of Nairobi by promoting financial independence and fostering community resilience. The initiative targets a diverse population, including women, youth, caregivers, and individuals living with HIV/AIDS equipping them with the tools and support needed to start or grow micro-businesses.
What We Do
- Business Start-Up Support
We help aspiring entrepreneurs turn ideas into income by providing business training, mentorship, and start-up capital. Our hands-on approach guides beneficiaries through the process of launching micro-enterprises from market research to product development and sales. - Business Expansion Assistance
For existing small business owners, we offer financial support to increase stock, improve operations, and boost income. This enables them to grow, hire locally, and support their families with dignity. - Tailored Support for Individuals Living with HIV/AIDS
While not the sole focus of the program, we recognize the unique vulnerabilities and challenges faced by individuals living with HIV/AIDS. As such, we have integrated support groups into the program to provide specialized assistance. These groups focus on holistic empowerment addressing economic, psychosocial, spiritual, and social well-being to help members thrive and overcome stigma.
How We Do It
Our self-empowerment program offers a holistic six-step approach combining business training, idea evaluation, site visits, startup capital, ongoing mentorship, and peer networking to support individuals in launching and growing viable, resilient micro-businesses in the slums of Nairobi.
Our Goal
To break the cycle of poverty by empowering community members to become self-reliant, economically active, and socially confident, enhancing both individual dignity and community stability. Through targeted business training, mentorship, peer networking, and startup support, we aim to unlock the potential within slum communities. By nurturing sustainable micro-enterprises and fostering resilience, we envision a future where individuals are not only able to meet their basic needs but also uplift those around them creating ripple effects of transformation across generations.
